Walk from old Isola into Milan's new skyline

Begin with railing houses and workshops, pass beneath Bosco Verticale, and let BAM lead you gradually into Piazza Gae Aulenti.

Why it is worth doing

Within a few hundred meters Milan shows its most legible transformation: neighborhood streets, local activism, a botanical park and contemporary towers without needing an architecture tour.

How to plan it

  1. 01

Start at Piazzale Archinto and take Via Borsieri slowly.

  2. 02

Reach Bosco Verticale from the Via De Castillia side.

  3. 03

Cross BAM along one of the diagonal paths through its gardens.

  4. 04

Climb into Piazza Gae Aulenti and finish at Porta Garibaldi or Corso Como.

Local tips

  • Bosco Verticale is residential, so view it from public space without seeking private access.
  • On Saturdays, the Piazza Minniti market changes Isola's rhythm.
  • Walk in this direction: the shift from low streets to towers is stronger than the reverse sequence.
