Enter from the San Polo side while crates and regular customers are still arriving, then continue toward Campo San Polo before the bridge takes over the whole area.

Why it is worth doing

Rialto began as a commercial center, not a photograph backdrop. The morning market makes the relationship between lagoon, food and neighborhood visible.

How to plan it

    Go Tuesday to Saturday if you want both produce and fish sections open.

  2. 02

    Arrive between 7:30 and 9:00 from the Rialto Mercato stop.

  3. 03

    See the Pescheria first, then cross to the fruit and vegetable stalls.

  4. 04

    Leave through San Polo instead of returning directly to the bridge.

Local tips

  • The official fish market hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 7:00–14:00; produce runs Monday to Saturday, 7:00–20:00.
  • Ask before photographing people or stalls at close range.
  • Keep delivery routes clear for porters and residents.
