Why it is worth doing
The Basilica remains a place of worship, so access changes around services and holy days. A precise slot makes the visit simpler and leaves the rest of the morning open.
How to plan it

Book only through the official ticket office and choose the first available slot.

Reach Piazza San Marco at least fifteen minutes early.
- 03
Choose the Basilica, Pala d'Oro or Museum and Horses Loggia before you arrive.
- 04
After the visit, leave the square through the Mercerie before the busiest hour.
Local tips
- On Sunday mornings the Museum and Loggia may open while the Basilica is reserved for worship: check each area's access separately.
- Download your QR ticket before arriving. The official FAQ permits smartphones and tablets; printing is not compulsory.
- A slot showing zero availability cannot be booked: choose another time or date, not an assumed walk-in entry.
- Monday to Saturday, the first listed tourist entry is normally 9:30; on Sundays the Basilica opens to visitors in the afternoon.
- The ticket has a short tolerance window and is not an open entry.
- Large bags and trolleys are not permitted; shoulders and knees must be covered.
